Saferworld is an independent non-governmental organisation that works to prevent violent conflict and

contribute to long term changes that build safer and more stable lives. We work with civil society, governments

and international organisations to encourage and support effective policies and practices through advocacy,

research and policy development, and through supporting the actions of others. The organisation is funded by a

range of donors from governments, multilaterals, Trusts and Foundations.

Consistent with Saferworld’s values, this position will lead on income growth in a way that enables Saferworld to deliver its strategic goals, while improving the long term sustainability and effectiveness of the organisation.

As an active member of Saferworld’s organisational management team, the Head of Funding will play a key role shaping the organisation’s strategy and be responsible for:

  • managing the fundraising team and their functional collaboration with project teams; 
  • overseeing and improving the effectiveness of fundraising operations;
  • leading on the development of a diverse funding base, including new opportunities such as competitive tender processes;
  • maintaining ongoing management of the organisation’s funding pipeline;
  • ensuring successful stewardship of donor-relationships across the organisation.

The successful candidate will have a creative and proactive approach to all areas of the work and a commitment to delivering to a high quality standard.  S/he will have experience of developing and delivering on fundraising strategies, ideally related to the peace building sector.  The post-holder will have experience of managing a fundraising team with a strong ‘team working’ orientation with excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and motivate staff and colleagues.
