This is a great opportunity to develop your abilities in a vibrant fundraising team. We're looking for a dynamic fundraiser with direct marketing skills to manage their own projects and budgets; a person with a flair for creativity and a head for numbers, who is good at working to schedules but is also flexible to last minute changes. We want a person who has enthusiasm to learn and develop and someone who is willing to share learning across the team.

Please note this role is a fixed term contract for up to one year.

Purpose of the Role

Our Individual Giving Officers have the opportunity to work on a mix of direct marketing projects across both donor acquisition and retention and to support the rest of the team in the delivery of fundraising campaigns. Our programme spans telemarketing, print, DRTV, Out Of Home and online fundraising.

Main Responsibilities

  • To manage a range of direct marketing campaigns across both acquisition and retention from campaign planning stage to execution. This includes briefing and managing suppliers, working on data segmentation, managing the creative process of developing marketing materials and copywriting.
  • To work across a mix of different channels at the same time including telemarketing, print, DRTV, digital, or Out Of Home.
  • To manage expenditure and income budgets for own individual projects.
  • To evaluate campaign results and report back on campaign performance on a regular basis
  • To produce end of campaign reviews and with the help of the manager complete income and expenditure re-forecasts as well as annual budgets.
  • To manage a range of external agencies at the same time to guarantee quality and income targets are met.
  • To help plan, implement and measure supporter journeys

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Experience in delivering direct marketing campaigns from start to finish, ideally including telemarketing, mailings, and digital platforms.
  • Experience working with a fundraising database.
  • Very good understanding of developing strong creative working with internal and external suppliers.
  • Highly numerate and good understanding of analysing and interpreting results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience using Google Analytics
  • Experience of key word analytics
  • Knowledge and experience of managing social media campaigns

About the team

This role is in the Individual Giving team, which sits within the Supporter Gifts & Engagement Department. The Individual Giving team raises over 85% of Friends of the Earth’s income through a variety of supporter recruitment and experience initiatives.

The IG team consists of seven staff:

  • Individual Giving Manager
  • Supporter Recruitment Manager
  • Supporter Experience Manager
  • 4 Individual Giving Officers

We rotate some of our projects on an annual basis to guarantee that all officers get the chance to work across different areas of our programmes.
