To sustain and develop the vision of Durham Music Service a new fundraising initiative is being developed.  As part of this an exciting new post of Development Manager has been created to lead on our fundraising.

Durham Music Service is part of Durham County Council’s Education Development Service and is the lead partner in the Music Education Hub for County Durham and Darlington.  Durham Music Service is a thriving vibrant education organisation that has been at the heart of music making in County Durham and Darlington for many years.  Practical music making lies at the heart of our approach to providing a wide range of music education experiences.  A highly qualified and able team of music teachers provide an exceptional musical experience for students from 4 up to 18 years and beyond.

Main Purpose of the Job
The Development Manager is responsible for developing and managing the fundraising programme of Durham Music Service (DMS).  There are three key responsibilities for the post:
− Working with the Manager of Music Education and other team members to create a sustained programme of asking for support from trusts, corporates and individuals;
− Run imaginative fundraising programmes to encourage philanthropic support from parents, alumni and audiences;
− Developing and managing the fundraising infrastructure to ensure the fundraising is run in an efficient and accountable manner. This will include working closely with the charitable Foundation, which is responsible for managing the funds raised.

It is envisaged that the fundraising will be a team approach across the organisation with the Development Manager co-ordinating the various fundraising activities.

Qualifications:  Degree level qualification
