We’re looking for a proactive individual with broad direct marketing experience to join us as Senior Direct Marketing Executive and help us make sure we retain and develop our individual donors.

Shelter’s independence is central to its effectiveness. That independence comes from the fact that the Fundraising Division and Shelter Trading deliver nearly 75% of the charity’s income. Individual Giving provides three quarters of this income, largely through a significant regular giving programme. In 15/16 the Individual Giving team is budgeted to generate £16m net income – rising to £19.8m in FY19/20 with an ROI of 3.5. Join us, and you’ll help us remain the independent voice for the people we help each and every day.

Benefits include 30 days annual leave, the possibility of flexible working and significant opportunities for learning and development.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Playing a central role in the supporter  journey/welcome programme and in developing a DM retention strategy and managing its effective implementation
  • Managing an extensive portfolio of DM retention projects, including managing budgets, making decisions on creative approaches and ensuring they are delivered on time
  • Leading and developing a range of retention projects within individual giving, including getting involved at the planning and testing stage
  • Work closely with colleagues in other teams to make sure all work is fully integrated across all channels

And what you’ll need:

  • An impressive track record in Direct Marketing, including experience of analysing and reporting on campaigns
  • A proven ability to work on strategic plans and manage external agencies and suppliers
  • A results-driven, collaborative and customer focused approach, lots of creativity and a willingness to challenge the status quo and come up with new ideas
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and databases for reporting purposes

At Shelter, we welcome and encourage applications from everyone regardless of age, disability, gender, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation. We are facing diverse problems, so need diverse people to tackle them.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help.

We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.

No agencies please.
