Campaigning is in the DNA of the Co-operative Group and has been since our formation over 150 years ago. Today, campaigning is clearly articulated within our purpose and is one of our flag ship programmes: ‘Campaigning for a better Society’.  Our Charity Partnerships and fundraising play a key role to enable us to achieve our campaigning aims.

The Co-operative is looking to recruit two Campaign and Fundraising Advisors, one National and one Local, to help deliver our flagship national charity partnership programmes. You will be an experienced and highly motivated campaigns fundraiser - ready to take on the challenge of working with colleagues across our family of businesses as well as our members and the communities we serve.  You will also create and implement both national/local community based campaigns and fundraising programmes which accentuate our co-operative difference.

You will work with the management team and deliver a highly professional service to ensure the Group delivers an engaging and effective campaign and fundraising programme to achieve our targets (both financial and non-financial) with our charity partners.

As a Fundraising Adviser, you’ll have a big role to play in our future as you will:

  • Work with Communications functions to support engagement and awareness of fundraising;
  • Develop cause related marketing opportunities that deliver significant added value (financial and non-financial);
  • Be part of the successful delivery of fundraising against targets set by management;
  • Deliver colleague and member engagement in the local/national fundraising activity;
  • Develop and implement best practice which can be adopted by the business;
  • Delivery of local/national fundraising strategies as measured by securing the approval of Executive, Board and with Council engagement.

We’re looking for the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or significant experience in a related field;

  • Working knowledge of industry developments in campaigning, fundraising and community engagement;
  • Strategic awareness and commercial understanding;
  • Strong networking / inter-personal skills;
  • Good political understanding and awareness of societal issues;
  • Excellent project and time management skills;

As part of our pre-engagement screening we carry out credit reference and electoral roll searches with credit reference agencies on all your addresses over the last 3 years, to review information relating to bankruptcies, delinquencies, defaults and fraudulent activity.  A footprint will not be left on your credit history.
