Head of Fundraising

First Story is seeking a talented and passionate Head of Fundraising to drive forth the growth of this pioneering literacy charity.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a senior leadership role in a young and fast growing charity which benefits from extremely strong support from the literary community.

First Story changes lives through writing. We believe that writing can transform lives, and that there is dignity and power in every young person’s story.

First Story brings talented, professional writers into secondary schools serving low-income communities to work with teachers and students to foster creativity and communication skills. By helping students find their voices through intensive, fun programmes, First Story raises aspirations and gives students the skills and confidence to achieve them.

We have ambitious goals to reach many more schools and develop our effective and highly innovative programmes.

This is a critical role in the charity, responsible for developing the strategy and overseeing fundraising efforts to support First Story’s programme in challenging secondary schools. It also has responsibility for Communications & PR. The role forms part of the charity's Senior Leadership Team and reports to the CEO.

The preferred candidate will develop and take forward First Story’s fundraising strategy, managing staff and volunteers to achieve targets.
