This new post requires an experienced, competent Grants and Trusts Fundraiser. This is an excellent opportunity for an intelligent, organised and creative candidate who is looking to join a dynamic and growing charity.

Pancreatic Cancer Action, (registered charity No.1137689) was founded in Surrey in 2010 by a rare survivor of the disease. A small team, headed by our Chief Executive, runs the charity and overall a board of Trustees provides direction for the organisation.

In 40 years, the four per cent survival rate of the UK’s fifth biggest cancer killer has not changed.  This is why we focus on early diagnosis.

We are a small charity with a huge voice shouting about much needed change for pancreatic cancer. We were founded out of a desperate need to give more attention to a disease that has been neglected for far too long. Hearing daily of more people diagnosed late and dying from pancreatic cancer is a powerful reminder of why we get out of bed each day.

Quite simply, we know that pancreatic cancer can be detected early, and as long as we are here and continue to be supported, we will do all we can do to make sure this happens more and more.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed research of grant and trust funding opportunities for Pancreatic Cancer Action using a range of on-line resources and publications. Inputting accurate summaries into databases and ensuring information is kept up to date.
  • Drafting of high quality grant funding bids and tenders, in line with the requirements of potential funders or commissioners and with reference to their published guidelines and any communication with them.
  • Build and manage excellent relationships with key contacts in trusts and foundations
  • Maintain and develop the Grants and Trusts element of Salesforce (or other) CRM database
  • Assist with the running of PCA fundraising events
  • Attend meetings, events and conferences as required– acknowledging that some of these may be out of hours and involve overnight stays.
  • Perform other duties that the Chief Executive of Pancreatic Cancer Action may consider appropriate.

While every effort has been made to outline all the main duties and responsibilities of the post, a document such as this does not permit every item to be specified in detail.  Also, the post holder may, from time to time, be asked to undertake other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade of this post.

Experience required

  • Detailed and practical understanding of Trust and Grants fundraising is desirable
  • Proven track record of raising funds from charitable Trusts, Foundations and Statutory bodies or within a commercial environment.
  • Demonstrable ability to write compelling and innovative proposals and funding reports.
  • Experienced in confidently representing organisations to potential and existing funders.
  • Experience of working with a fundraising database and database administration.
  • Demonstrable negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Experience of working to and meeting deadlines.

  • Educated to degree level
