Hi, we’re 10:10 – we bring people together to do bold, beautiful things that help tackle climate change. You’re an experienced tree-shaker and money-maker who wants to use your powers to make the world a better place. We should talk!

10:10 is all about the positive, practical stuff; taking a collective approach that turns individual actions into a force for bigger change. We don’t have any secret formulas or silver bullets, but we do have an amazing community of people working together to cut carbon at home, put solar on their local school, save their local bus service or repower their entire village with clean energy. So we dream up projects, build tools and spread success stories to make sure these people have the help and inspiration they need to keep going further.

Now we need your help to get the funding, resources, partnerships and connections to ensure we can continue the work we do, reach out to millions more people, and change the way Britain thinks, talks and acts on climate change.

You’ll be in charge of delivering our fundraising strategy and working with the team at 10:10 to look after our major donors, trusts and foundations and corporate sponsors and partners and you’ll also be responsible for helping us move into digital marketing and other new potential sources of funding.

You’ll be part of our flat-management structure. We’re a a four-person directorship which leads our organisation together (no executive director) and you’ll be one of the four. It’s an incredibly exciting time at 10:10 and you’ll have a chance to be a key part of the next steps.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you’ll be:

  • Leading 10:10 as part of a flat directorship team, making high-level decisions and joint overall responsibility for the success of  the organisation.
  • Leading and delivering the fundraising strategy in line with the organisation’s wider campaign strategy.
  • Working with the team to look after our current funders.
  • Working with the team to develop new funding opportunities, funding events and new funding sources.
  • Ensuring our funder records are kept up-to-date.
  • Managing one or more fundraisers and/or occasional consultants.
  • Cultivating and looking after strategic partnerships to help further the impact of our work.

Skills and attributes

Must haves

  • Significant fundraising experience (e.g. HNWI, Trusts & Foundations and ideally also some experience of statutory, corporate, and/or direct marketing).
  • Experience of ‘making an ask’ and of securing 5 figure donations.
  • Creativity and dynamism – the ability to think on your feet.
  • The ability to drive and manage your own work – prioritising and reacting to demand and opportunity.
  • A knack for spotting new opportunities and opening up new channels.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • A lively, conversational writing style, and the ability to make sense of complex ideas for a general audience.
  • Incredible networker and speaker who can engage a wide range of people - making the most of all opportunities to promote the great work that 10:10 does.

Definitely won’t hurt

  • An understanding of climate and energy politics. You don’t have to be an expert, but you should get why it matters, and what the barriers are to change.
  • Line management experience.
  • Senior management experience.
  • Experience using Salesforce or other contact management tool.
  • An understanding of audience and/or supporter strategies and journeys.
  • A passion for something! At 10:10 we bake great cakes, mend bikes and may even rustle up a festive holly wreath. We’d love to hear what you’d like to add to the mix.

About 10:10

10:10 started with a simple 10% challenge, uniting individuals and organisations across the country to cut their carbon by 10% in 2010.This experience taught us something key: The real magic comes from bringing people together around a positive, can-do approach.

In 2011, Lighter Later campaigned for longer, lower-carbon evenings, our first major foray into policy campaigning. Many of the supporters of Lighter Later had never done anything political before, but over 25,000 of them used our lobbying tool to send individually written messages to their MPs. 144 MPs turned up in the Commons on what should have been the quietest day of the week.

We also launched Solar Schools, winning hearts and minds for renewables across the country’s best-loved spaces, and forging a sustainable heart in communities far and wide and becoming our biggest and most successful project to date.

In 2012, we started to share the largely untold story of progress and possibility on climate change through the #itshappening project, showcasing climate success stories from around the world, bringing fresh hope and new resolve to millions of people.

Throughout 2014 we helped establish a local renewable energy co-op in Balcombe, helping to unite the so-called ‘fracking village’ around solar power, and inspiring a new wave of copycat projects around the country with our Back Balcombe campaign.

The second half of 2015 was a rocky time for UK renewables, and we took the unusual decision to campaign on the cuts to Feed-In-Tariffs, not least because we owed it to the communities we’d been working to help them articulate a political voice.

But we know there’s still a load of possibilities for building renewables in the UK, and we’ve got a tonne of innovative new plans up our sleeves for 2016 and beyond. Could you be part of those?
