Director of Fundraising, Volunteering and Communications - The Role:
 
To be an active member of the senior management team, leading the Charity in the strategic development and delivery of fundraising, volunteering and communications. To maximise voluntary income and active engagement in the Charity’s strategic aims and to protect and add value to the Charity’s brand. Specifically over the next 3 years to develop and lead a fundraising plan to celebrate the Charity’s 50th anniversary.

Salary: Circa £50,000 per Annum, Permanent Contract

Line Management: 

You will have direct line management responsibility for 9.56 full-time equivalents (ftes) in the fundraising, volunteering and communications team as well as two contractor posts associated with publications and media management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work as part of the senior management team to develop plans and budgets to deliver the Charity’s strategic aims and provide leadership to staff. 
• Develop and implement fundraising strategies to including targeting legacies, occasional donations, major donors, trust, community and corporate fundraising, for the Charity to maximize the income potential from a wide selection of income streams.
• Develop and lead on the Charity’s 50th anniversary celebrations including specifically a major appeal to raise £5m for a Research Fellowship Fund. 
• Develop the Charity’s volunteering base and enhance Member engagement and help deliver our strategic aims. 
• Ensure the Charity’s brand is developed and protected including the Charity’s key communication tools such as Crossed Grain, eXG, social media and website. 
• Measure and analyze activity in high quality reports to the senior management team and Governors to help inform the strategic direction of Charity.
• Work with appropriate Directors to ensure that the Charity’s strategic objectives with regard to Membership, service provision, campaigning and commercial services are supported and enhanced by the Directorate’s work. 
• Following the Charity’s policies and values, recruit, induct, manage and develop staff to ensure delivery of plan and budget.

Specific Job Skills and Experience:

• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Ability to analyse data and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Broad understanding of fundraising, volunteering and communication.
• Excellent planning and budgetary skills.
• Experienced manager with proven project management and people management skills.
• High levels of numeracy and literacy.

Competencies:

• Ability to think strategically and translate to practical reality.
• Motivated to look to charity and industry best practice standards to ensure the Charity operates best practice approaches. 
• Supportive manager able to develop staff competencies.
• Motivated, co-operative team player.
