RESULTS UK, a advocacy organisation working towards a world free from hunger and poverty, is seeking an experienced Fundraising Officer to manage and increase funding in the sector.

We are seeking a Fundraising Officer who can support the diversification of our income by effectively engaging new donors and income streams (both in the UK and internationally), whilst also working to maintain strong relationships with our existing donors (including individuals).

This is an exciting opportunity with plenty of scope for the post holder to build on newly developed systems and add to a healthy funding pipeline, with an interesting mix of grants both large and small coming up for renewal in 2016.

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the continuity of these existing relationships, and will maximise income from funding institutions by researching new funding opportunities and writing compelling funding applications. We are seeking someone with proven success in fundraising from institutions, but who is also eager to engage in a range of fundraising activities to diversify our funding base.

Key responsibilities

  • To lead on the implementation and further development of the fundraising strategy, working with the Executive Director and Management Team. This will focus on grants fundraising but also involve developing other funding streams to diversify our funding base.
  • To research, prepare, follow up and monitor funding bids to grant-making trusts and foundations.
  • To deliver fundraising activities to engage new individual donors, e.g. through public campaigns and community events.
  • To liaise with the Donor Relations Team within RESULTS in the US (who lead our relationships with existing international donors) and leverage that team’s expertise to explore UK-specific and international grant funding proposals.
  • Work with relevant partners around the world to identify relevant funding opportunities and prepare joint funding proposals, as required.
  • Working with staff to ensure we produce information that is beneficial to our fundraising efforts – for example monitoring and evaluation data, case studies etc.
  • Working with staff to ensure the smooth delivery of reports on project activities to donors.
  • To assist our Finance Manager in monitoring, maintaining and developing administrative and clerical systems so as to ensure maximum efficiency and smooth running of each fundraising project, including:
    • Internal and external communications both formal and informal.
    • Reporting to the management team on the progress of applications and projects.
  • Maintaining a calendar of all reporting requirements for all grants and ensuring that these reports are produced by the grant-holders responsible, in time and in full.
  • To ensure procedures for the security and confidentiality of information are always maintained.
  • To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibilities of this job.

Person specification

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of researching and writing successful funding applications and experience of helping to develop a donor database. You will have experience of working with management teams to develop excellent project proposals that get funded.

We are looking for someone who will think creatively and take a proactive approach to seeking potential funding from a range of sources. As a small organisation, we also need someone who has a ‘can do’ attitude and who will be flexible in performing a range of duties as and when they arise.

You must be a self-starter, happy to manage your workload and drive forward this work without constant supervision.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent administration skills, highly efficient, able to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • IT competence, ability to work with Word, Excel, PP, online, databases, words and images etc.

Personal attributes

  • Well organised and able to manage own workload.
