About the charity

Children with Cancer UK, is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. Our aims are to determine the causes, find the cure and provide care for children with cancer.

The charity was founded in 1988 following the death of 14-year old Paul O’Gorman to leukaemia and, just nine months later, his sister Jean, also to cancer.  Before his death, Paul’s parents promised to help other children with leukaemia and, today, we fund life-saving research in to childhood leukaemia as well as all other forms of other childhood cancer

About the Role

The total income for the charity in 2015 was c£17.5 million. The main sources of fundraising income are direct mail, sports events, community fundraising and events. Community Fundraising is responsible for income of c£750,000 per annum.

The role demands an individual who is confident and well organised and can take a methodical approach to their work. The role will suit someone at the beginning of their career who is interested in community fundraising. 

Key Responsibilities

The purpose of the Community Fundraising Coordinator role is to:-

  • The planning and development of a programme for community fundraising.
  • Develop new community fundraising campaigns in conjunction with your line manager.
  • Recruit and support new community fundraisers to maximise their fundraising potential.
  • Liaise with existing and new community fundraisers, providing fundraising materials, encouragement and support, developing a network of incremental community fundraisers.
  • Manage University RAG fundraising so that it is a reliable source of income each year.
  • Manage schools and other children’s fundraising including our Mr. Men and Little Miss Children’s Challenges.
