Assistant Fundraising Consultant

Salary: £15,000 pa
Contract: Permanent, part time (22.5 hours per week)

We have a very strong brand, and the implications that brings when looking for new fundraising, especially given that we look after special places for over 4 million members, who have a personal interest in everything we do. Calling upon your knowledge and experience in local fundraising, we are looking for an energetic good communicator to provide fundraising advice to the fascinating and diverse range of Wales National Trust properties.

You will be working with property based staff to establish new fundraising mechanisms and develop new ideas from local networks to grow community focused support for our cause and encourage members and visitors to donate to our conservation and heritage priorities.

About the role

Working with Wales and national colleagues, you will help deliver our new strategy to grow local fundraising. You will support delivery of on-site fundraising operational ask by helping our properties develop and implement plans to promote our cause more widely and asks for donations and gifts in wills. You will mentor and develop the collective group of property fundraising champions to create and deliver more opportunities to give. You will be supporting our champions to develop relationships with local groups and working at grass roots level of fundraising. You will assist local staff in testing and evaluating new fundraising mechanisms to support their local plans and achieve targets. You will work with Fundraising Consultants to deliver local fundraising and donor stewardship at property events and visits.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual with a passion for our cause and an understanding of community grass roots fundraising. We are also looking for:

  • An understanding of what makes a good fundraising appeal
  • Knowledge of fundraising practices
  • The ability to test, implement and evaluate new fundraising mechanisms
  • Excellent stakeholder and community relationship building skills
  • Experienced training, mentoring and coaching skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Influencing and negotiating skills, and the ability to alter your approach to suit your audience
  • The ability to handle sensitive information and an understanding of fundraising compliance and data protection
  • Time management, prioritisation and administrative skills to ensure deadlines are met
  • An enthusiasm for working in a bilingual cultural environment
