We are seeking an ambitious and outgoing Account Manager to provide strategic account management, partnership building and engagement with UK Trusts Foundations and statutory bodies, to sustain and increase support for our UK Programme.

We believe every child has the chance to succeed and through the work we do in our UK programmes we continue to stand up for children who are facing poverty, right here in the UK. We take risks and experiment to find new evidence-based programmes, replicate these programmes and use our powerful voice to convince others to replicate them. This role offers you the chance to be part of the exciting programmes we offer, supporting children from low income backgrounds to get the best start in their early years: at home, nursery, at school and in the community.

As Account Manager you will develop and execute Save the Children’s UK Trusts and Statutory account strategy to increase support for our work focussed on children living in poverty in the UK. You will increase Save the Children’s access to UK Trusts and Statutory funding, which includes supporting and working with our teams in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England. You will also:

  • Identify and develop ‘partnership making’ opportunities by working closely with donor contacts and with Save the Children’s UK Programme Directors
  • Help ensure that all necessary Save the Children resources (e.g. technical, fundraising, advocacy, UK Programmes team) work together in support of the account strategy
  • Identify and research new funding opportunities within existing portfolio or new Trusts and Statutory sources
  • Undertake direct representation with appropriate donor contacts; as well as support and facilitate other staffs’ relationships with key individuals in the sector
  • Monitor the value of the accounts/portfolio against set targets, as well as explain/escalate variances.

To be successful you will have previous strategic account management experience, with proven relationship management and grant award management skills. You will have proven your ability to engage with and secure collaborations or funding from major UK Trusts and statutory sources. With a solid understanding of the UK Trusts and Foundations market and previous experience working at a UK Charity, you will also have:

  • Knowledge of project design, quality programming and effective delivery
  • Analytical skills, with the ability to identify key points from complex material/ information and produce clear summaries and analysis of trends for internal reporting
  • The ability to identify opportunities to develop prospects and execute them strongly, using new approaches or techniques
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent relationship building skills, with the ability to form and maintain both internal and external relationships at a variety of levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including senior level briefings and presentations, both for internal and external audiences with appropriate attention to detail
  • Experience of undertaking donor research – an ability to find relevant, reliable and up to date information quickly.

Knowledge of statutory grant making bodies is highly desirable.

At Save the Children we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children are recruited to work for us.
