The Assistant Development Manager position will be a vital role in supporting the delivery of the Development strategy (alumni relations and fundraising), and the post holder will work closely with the Head of Development.  The main focus of the role is to manage the population of the database and support in the management of the events and communication programme.  This will require good organisational skills, attention to detail, a methodical approach and be confident in using a CRM database. This is a busy department and the role holder should feel confident to work on his/her own initiative and be able to prioritise workloads as well as working as part of the team. 

Duties will include:

Database management

  • Management of the database, ensuring consistencies across the team and producing monthly data checks and statistics
  • Populate missing data on individual records
  • Preparation of data for mass mailings and if appropriate reports, adhering to procedures agreed by the Head of Development
  • Responsible for producing and sending letters and co-ordinating replies.

Assist with the stewardship and engagement programme

  • Make weekly affinity telephone calls to engage with alumni
  • Co-ordinate specific year groups in preparation for the annual reunion and other events
  • Manage some other specific events (please note, as it is a small team, there may be some occasional evenings or weekends requested to work at events)
  • Set up meetings for the Head of Development with fundraising and relationship building opportunities

Networks

  • Meet members of the community, give tours, disseminate information on the work of Development and gather information from them
  • Possibly meet OLs and other members of the school community to help build engagement

Communications

  • Support the Head of Development and Development Manager in targeting specific alumni, former staff and other members of the community for news stories for the OL News and e-bulletins ensuring there is a pipeline of information.

Social Media

  • To support in the co-ordination of regular communions via social media – specifically Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter.

Volunteers

  • Manage key volunteers and oversee them working on data or administrative projects

Fundraising Appeals

  • Support the Head of Development to help with the smooth delivery of the following activity:
  • Leavers’ Gift
  • Bursary Fund Campaign
  • Telephone Campaign
  • Sponsor a Brick
  • Regular Giving Programme

Other ad-hoc duties may arise as requested by the Head of Development and the Director of Marketing and Admissions.
