Role purpose

The Fundraising team is looking for a bright, highly numerate and technically proficient Data Specialist to be a pivotal member of the Fundraising team, both in the UK and overseas. This role will oversee and enhance the health and function of our donor CRM, including data support, analysis and development. Key tasks will include overseeing the reconciliation process for all HTB Group entities (HTB, Alpha International and SPTC), driving the development of our systems using the Fundraising database, providing key reports and donation analysis to Finance, Senior Management and the entity Boards, and providing ongoing enhancement training and technical support to the team. 

You will have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role within a Fundraising or Finance context, having worked extensively with numerical systems and databases. You will be an advanced user of Excel and able to produce complex analysis and reports. You will acquire deep technical expertise, drive development, show initiative, be a problem-solver and be able to work independently. You will be engaged with the vision of HTB and Alpha and be motivated to enhance our Fundraising systems and processes by introducing efficiencies and delivering meaningful training. You will also be a key point of contact between the Fundraising and Finance teams.

Essential Skills, knowledge and experience

  • Complete discretion and confidentiality around donor information essential
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (Advanced formula use, Vlookup, Pivot Tables, etc.) (Macro / VBA not necessary)
  • Experience of working with databases including extracting data and reports, with the ability to interpret data and provide suitable recommendations
  • Highly numerate with a natural technical and administrative ability
  • Attention to detail, reliability and accuracy a must
  • High degree of organisation and ability to prioritise
  • Self-sufficiency and initiative with the ability to analyse problems and come up with solutions in a proactive and anticipatory manner
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts in a simple and easily understandable manner
  • Experience of providing training and interacting across diverse teams and departments

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience

  • Fundraising database (particularly Raiser’s Edge) experience highly desirable
  • Experience working in a Fundraising environment desirable
  • Background in Finance or Accounting would be an advantage
  • Previous experience with IT systems would be an advantage
