Our ground-breaking work has the potential to save thousands of lives if it can be propelled from research to reality. We are entering a period of expansion and we are looking to recruit a Fundraising Manager to join our team based at Great Horwood, Milton Keynes.

The Fundraising Manager will support Medical Detection Dogs (MDD) in maximising revenue to fund its work throughout the UK.

The role is pivotal to the growth and success of the charity.  The purpose is to lead and develop all of the charity’s fundraising activities.

You will be instrumental in the development and implementation of the fundraising strategy. Playing a key role in planning and setting the annual fundraising income and expenditure budgets, you will work to achieve and exceed the income targets.

Main Duties:

  • Lead on all aspects of fundraising and donor communications to support the aims and objectives of Medical Detection Dogs.
  • Ensure fundraising standards are met at all times and conform to the requirements of the Fundraising Regulator.
  • Develop, and maximise income from, new and existing fundraising streams, including community fundraising, corporate support, individual giving, direct marketing, regular giving, legacies and a wide range of events.
  • Assist MDD’s external bid writer and MDD’s Trustees in their work to win Lottery, Trust, Foundation and individual funding.
  • Proactively develop digital fundraising and social media strategies to generate additional funds needed for further projects and growth.
  • Work with the Finance Manager to establish systems for monitoring, evaluating and reporting all methods of income generation.
  • Monitor income generation activity and adjust the focus where required to maximise income.
  • Liaise with other staff members as required to promote and coordinate fundraising activity.
  • Build strong and effective working relationships with supporters, donors and key agencies.
  • Represent Medical Detection Dogs across the UK as required.
  • Line manage staff involved in income generation as the role develops. 

Other Duties:

  • Prepare a regular fundraising report to the Charity’s Finance and Executive Committee.
  • Prepare comprehensive fundraising plans for new initiatives that require funding.
  • Be responsible for the development of charity merchandise to ensure sales are maximised.
  • Any other duties as may be deemed suitable to the post as agreed with the COO, and within the context of the contract of employment.
  • Prepare quarterly update reports to our supporters.

Travel:

  • The post-holder must be able and prepared to travel independently across the regions, when required, to meet the needs of the role, for example meeting potential funders.
