Samaritans is perhaps best known for its helpline, open to anyone, around the clock – 365 days a year.  But people are often surprised to hear that this service is run entirely by trained volunteers – 20,000 people across 201 branches who give their time to help others who are struggling to cope.

In fact, every six seconds, someone contacts Samaritans for help.  And our volunteers listen, helping them find the strength to move on.

To be there for everyone who needs us now and in the future, we must continue to innovate and respond to the changing needs of our callers.  We aim to work together, across Samaritans Central Charity and all our branches to develop and diversify our fundraising activities so we have the financial resources needed to achieve this goal.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising Development, the Fundraising Coordinator will work closely with senior volunteers, including our new Regional Fundraising Officers, and have regular contact with volunteers at Samaritans branches by phone, email, and face to face, to provide fundraising support and guidance.

You will be the key contact for fundraising volunteers seeking specific guidance on grant funding opportunities to support their branch activity, and you’ll lead on the co-ordination of regional bids to ensure a joined up approach to grant fundraising across the whole organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to support branches to develop new ways of working together and to secure previously untapped sources of funding.

We are looking for a pro-active and highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills both written and verbal. You will need strong organisational skills to meet deadlines along with planning and prioritising your work. Excellent research skills and previous experience of working within a fundraising environment is essential.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
