The Royal Forestry Society (RFS) is the largest and longest established education charity dedicated to promoting the wise management of woods and trees in England, Wales and Northern Ireland

Our mission is to inspire passion and excellence in woodland management. Woodlands deliver unique and vital support to the rural economy, the environnment and society. Britain's woodlands are threatened by pests, diseases, climate change and neglect.  The RFS has a vital role in raising understanding of the value of woodlands and the art and science of woodland management. 

This is an exciting time for UK forestry and the RFS. In 2015 we launched a significant expansion of our educational activities for primary school children, higher and further education students and novice woodland owners with an objective to raise £1.8m by 2020 in support of these activities. In the first two years we have raised 38% of this target.

The RFS is inviting applications for a part time post of Development Manager to build on the excellent start to the delivery of our strategy, raise funds to support educational programmes, steward donors and work with the Chief Executive, Board of Trustees and the wider membership to embed a fundraising culture in the Society. He/she will need to be resourceful, organised, knowledgeable, demonstrate excellent written and oral presentational skills, be comfortable operating at different levels and working as part of a team. This is a senior appointment and the RFS is seeking candidates of the highest calibre.

Salary: £28,000 pa

Hours: 28 hours a week

Location: Home or office based
