PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • To maximise income from grant makers, primarily trusts and foundations, in order to enable Noah’s Ark to provide a wider breadth of care for an increased number of children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families
  • To identify and implement new income opportunities from all grant making sources
  • To build on and manage existing relationships

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Research and selection

  • Research prospective grant making supporters
  • Identify suitable funding opportunities that support the development of organisational strategy and advise colleagues across the organisation
  • Identify revenue and capital activities that can be packaged as projects and obtain information required for funding proposals, liaising with service colleagues
  • Match potential donors with projects

Applications and donor management

  • Develop and submit high quality funding applications, working with service colleagues across the organisation. The emphasis will be on raising funds for the charity’s Hospice at Home services but the post holder will also work to help complete Noah’s Ark’s Building the Ark (hospice building) Appeal
  • Advise and guide service colleagues on the development of project plans, project budgets and identify outputs and outcomes
  • Support the Corporate Partnerships Manager and Senior Community Engagement Manger with their corporate funding applications
  • Co-ordinate the charity’s small trusts mailings
  • Ensure funders receive the appropriate level of acknowledgement, recognition and feedback on the monitoring of inputs, outputs and outcomes, in line with their specific requirements
  • Develop and maintain good relations with potential and existing donors, including small trust donors
  • Ensure that all appropriate funders receive timely and relevant correspondence and updates about the work of the charity
  • Ensure outstanding donor management and record-keeping
  • Liaise with service colleagues to monitor progress on funded projects, make timely suggestions for any remedial action required, identify any potential problems, and recommend and implement actions to address these

Promotion

  • Support the Fundraising Team in the production of fundraising literature, reports (including an annual Impact Report), case studies and internal communications
  • Ensure that necessary information for trusts and statutory fundraising is suitably presented on the website
  • Support fundraising and promotional events led by other teams, as requested

Administration, records and cost control

  • Effectively create and maintain up-to-date trusts and foundations fundraising records
  • Provide regular income reports, as required

In addition the Senior Trust Fundraiser will be expected

  • to work within legal and charity guidelines especially within the Institute of Fundraising codes of practice
  • to manage and work within Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice’s fundraising administrative, IT systems and guidelines
  • to represent Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice as required and to be an ambassador for the organisation at all times
  • to undertake training and skills development and keep up to date with the changing requirements of the role
  • to undertake other duties as may be required

Additional Notes

  • The post will involve some travel around Noah’s Ark’s boroughs and beyond to meet with prospective and current supporters.
  • Some home working, where appropriate, and pre agreed with line manager, will be considered.
  • Some occasional out of hours or weekend working will be required for which time off in lieu will be awarded in line with Noah’s Ark internal policy.
  • You will be expected to work within legal and charity guidelines, ensuring compliance with CQC and other statutory regulations.
  • You will be expected to work within Noah’s Ark administrative and IT systems and guidelines and be aware of, and comply with the relevant rules and policies.
