Director of Fundraising

Ref: RS101469

Holborn, London. With regular travel to our Watford office and occasional travel throughout the UK

Permanent

35 hours per week

Up to £85,000 per annum inclusive of inner London weighting

How we work:

Action for Children does what’s right, does what’s needed and does what works for children in the UK. Every year, our team changes the lives of 390,000 children, young people and families.

Today 1 in 4 children in the UK live in poverty. 1 in 20 children suffer neglect or abuse. And too many children are disadvantaged because of disability.

But we have big plans at Action for Children: our ambition is for a UK where any child who needs help, gets help.

As Director of Fundraising you will provide strategic leadership to build sustainable growth in the level of funds for our work for children.

How you’ll make a difference:

By developing and directing a fundraising strategy which builds broad and sustained support for our work with children and young people

By building a portfolio of offers to engage and inspire support from all sections of UK society

By delivering significant levels of high-value support for our cause from corporate partners, philanthropists and trusts who share our ambitions for children

By harnessing the power of digital technology to deliver relevant and compelling offers to supporters

By leading and inspiring a national team of 100 fundraising staff to deliver excellence in fundraising

By being an ambassador both within and outside of our charity

What you’ll need:

  • You’ll be a confident leader with the ability to inspire and engage at all levels
  • You will have a demonstrable track record of success at a senior level in a not-for-profit or commercial sector
  • An experienced leader of people with strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to understand and make effective decisions using complex commercial data and analysis
  • Familiarity working within a regulated environment, ideally with in-depth understanding of the latest developments in fundraising regulation and data protection law
  • Be committed to the work we do, and share our values

How we’ll reward you:

We offer a very competitive benefits package, including 29 days annual leave. Please see our website for full details on the benefits pack.
