About the role

The British Red Cross is searching for a highly motivated, organised, and enthusiastic individual to join our Community Fundraising Team. We're looking for someone who will relish the challenge of building new relationships with individuals and groups, with the overall purpose of ensuring our income continues to grow.

You will manage community fundraising across the three counties of the Thames Valley area, developing supporters and building local volunteer bases in ways that encourage and support people to fundraise for the British Red Cross. The focus of this role is to maximise the lifetime value from local community donors in the area, including individuals, groups, small trusts and SMEs. You will be working in a fast paced and inspiring environment, which will require you to be out and about in the community, working with our fundraising supporters.

The British Red Cross helps millions of people in the UK and around the world to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies, disasters and conflicts.

Our volunteers and staff help people in crisis to live independently by providing support at home, mobility aids and transport. We also teach first aid skills.

We are part of the global Red Cross and Red Crescent humanitarian network. We refuse to ignore people in crisis.

About the team

The Community Fundraising team work with supporters in local communities throughout the UK, encouraging and motivating our supporters to raise funds that will ensure that the British Red Cross grows income and can continue to help people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.

About the person

You will be a results driven individual who is focused on ensuring strategic, financial and non-financial objectives are delivered. You will achieve these challenging objectives through working with a network of supporters and volunteers.

We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and has ideally worked within a similar role or can demonstrate the relevant skills and experience required in the job description.

Your ability to communicate and build relationships with supporters and donors will be second to none and crucial to ensure that we grow income to support the British Red Cross' work.. You will be confident contacting supporters over the telephone, as well as delivering presentations to groups and local business.

You will be confident working independently with focus, drive and enthusiasm. You will have a pro-active approach to your work whilst being confident in supporting and motivating others. If you are an experienced community fundraiser or have relevant transferable skills and are passionate about the work of the Red Cross, we would love to hear from you.

A full driving licence and use of a car is required for this position, as you will be required to complete some travel across three counties of the Thames Valley area.
