About the role

When an emergency strikes anywhere world, the Red Cross is at the forefront of the humanitarian response.

Our community fundraisers work hard to keep us in a state of readiness so that we are always prepared for the next emergency.

When we launch emergency appeals, community fundraising is the face of the Red Cross, engaging with individuals and organisations in the local area. The relationships we build are key to our success, and experience of forging new relationships and developing existing ones is an essential requirement of the role.

This is a job where no two days are the same; one day you might be asking a volunteer to help at a supermarket collection, the next you could be presenting to the CEO of a local company, working on a national partnership, applying to local funders, or working at a fundraising event.

How you plan your day is determined by you, which means, for the right person, we can consider more flexible hours than 9 to 5 or 35 hours a week.

There is a lot of variety in the role, and our team come from many different backgrounds, but the common link we all share is we love working with people.
Our community fundraisers work alongside the people who deliver our services in the UK, and they are responsible for developing a network of supporters to fund those services.

It isn't easy, but it is exciting, rewarding, and a privilege to be part of the world's largest humanitarian organisation.

About the organisation

The British Red Cross helps millions of people in the UK and around the world to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies, disasters and conflicts.

Our volunteers and staff help people in crisis to live independently by providing support at home, mobility aids and transport. We also teach first aid skills.

We are part of the global Red Cross and Red Crescent humanitarian network. We refuse to ignore people in crisis.

About the person

You will be a results driven individual who is focused on ensuring strategic, financial and non-financial objectives are delivered. You will achieve these challenging objectives through working with a network of supporters and volunteers.

We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and has ideally worked within a similar role or can demonstrate the relevant skills and experience required in the job description.

Your ability to communicate and build relationships with supporters and donors will be second to none and crucial to ensure that we grow income to support the British Red Cross' work.. You will be confident contacting supporters over the telephone, as well as delivering presentations to groups and local business.

You will be confident working independently with focus, drive and enthusiasm. You will have a pro-active approach to your work whilst being confident in supporting and motivating others. If you are an experienced community fundraiser or have relevant transferable skills and are passionate about the work of the Red Cross, we would love to hear from you.

A full driving licence and use of a car is required for this position, as you will be required to travel within the area on a regular basis
