We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual with excellent customer service skills who has worked on projects in a fundraising, events or marketing environment, to join us as Community & Events Assistant and provide vital support to our community fundraisers across the country.

If you’re interested in being part of a busy, successful and award-winning Community & Events fundraising team, you’ve come to the right place. Responsible for devising, creating and delivering a host of fundraising events, our Community & Events team’s success stories are many and varied. Vertical Rush, Urban Rush, the London Marathon and special events such as Stand Up for Shelter and Gimme Shelter –  are just a few examples. Join us and you’ll gain a truly thorough understanding of Community & Events Fundraising with a particular focus on community fundraising.

Benefits include 30 days annual leave, flexible working and significant opportunities for learning and development.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Manage Shelter’s community fundraising activity and liaise with supporters to provide them with the fundraising materials and advice they need to hold successful events.
  • Monitor and report on budgets for your projects.
  • Support the team across a variety of innovative fundraising activities, including prior to and on event day and carrying out accurate data entry and admin tasks.
  • Source suppliers, organising materials - e.g. t-shirts – and making sure stock levels are maintained.
  • Assist with event recruitment, supervising event fundraising volunteers, carrying out competitor research and helping to identify new income areas.

And what you’ll need:

  • A proven background in a related environment and excellent all-round communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and supporter care skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and databases
  • Numeracy, lots of initiative, a ‘can-do’, collaborative approach and the ability to manage your own time effectively and adapt to new ideas
  • A flair for quickly understanding others needs and working to meet and exceed their expectations.
