Keele University

Directorate of Engagement & Partnerships

Deputy Head of Development and Supporter Engagement

Grade 8, Starting salary £41,212 pa

Post Ref: KU00000567

Keele University is renowned for its exciting approach to higher education, beautiful campus, strong community spirit and excellent student life. With a turnover in excess of £134 million, over 10,000 students and a total staff of approximately 2000, the University provides high quality teaching across a wide range of academic and vocational subjects. Further information can be found on our website.

This post represents the exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to play a key role in the establishment of our new Advancement programme at Keele: bringing together alumni relations and fundraising to deliver a successful programme of supporter engagement; to provide and develop opportunities to develop and mobilise our communities to support Keele by volunteering or with financial investment.

As Deputy Head of Development and Supporter Engagement, as well as supporting the Head of Development and Supporter Engagement to lead the Advancement programme, you will be responsible for the development of our major gifts programme; identifying and engaging with potential future supporters, including alumni of the University and major philanthropists (individuals, corporate donors, and Trust and Foundations) in the UK and Internationally.

You will be responsible for ensuring we develop excellent relationships with existing potential donors primarily using ‘face to face’ fundraising techniques and take responsibility for building productive relationships with Trusts and Foundations in order to write effective proposals to seek Trust and Foundation support.

As a Senior Manager within the Advancement Team, this role will have the opportunity to work closely with the Vice-Chancellor, the University’s academic leaders, key researchers, and senior volunteers both internally and externally to Keele University.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in any discipline. You will have significant experience of successfully engaging with senior individuals and Trusts and Foundations, and a strong track record of securing major gifts for charitable causes.
