It’s an exciting time to be joining the team at Acorns. There’s much to celebrate as we look towards our 30th Anniversary next year but without our people and our amazing supporters we couldn’t be there for the children and families we care for. There’s so much more we need to do and you can be part of our story.

We are looking for engaging and passionate individuals who are tenacious and results driven. You will need to hit the ground running and be able to manage multiple activities, all focused around our fundraising plans.  You’ll demonstrate initiative and imagination, enthusiasm and experience.

The children and young people who come to Acorns all have serious and complex life limiting or life threatening conditions. We offer care and support services to suit each individual family’s needs and do whatever we can to help them and their child.  We firmly believe that no family should go through this alone, so as a fundraising team we must raise significant funds to ensure we are there for each and every one of them. This is why we need someone like you to join our community fundraising team and inspire the local community to join us in our vision.

About the role
One of four Community Fundraising Officers working to raise £1.3 million, as part of the Corporate and Community Fundraising team. Responsible for generating income from the local community via schools, Colleges and Universities, religious groups, social groups, local businesses and individuals. We are seeking a very proactive Community Fundraising Officer to reach pre-agreed annual targets by building long term relationships from our existing donors and developing new supporters.

About you
You will be self-motivated and adept at planning and prioritising your workload, with demonstrable experience of and resilience to meeting targets. Previous fundraising experience or experience of working within sales is essential and the ability to work within a team.

It is imperative that you have a good understanding of the principles of supporter/customer care and the measures that are used to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.  You will also need to be a comfortable and confident public speaker, and possess the ability to engage with a wide range of people over the telephone and face to face.

You should already be maintaining an active and appropriate social media presence, which you will leverage to maximise your engagement with the local community. In addition you will use your excellent interpersonal skills to motivate and mobilise our volunteers.

The role will require travel, and work at weekends and evenings (in return for time off in lieu).

In return, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package and a supportive environment in which to flourish.  As the UK’s largest children’s hospice, our first class reputation provides you with the perfect platform to take forward the requirements of your role with confidence.

Closing date: 09:00 am 11 September 2017

Interviews to be held: Tuesday 19 September 2017 in the Three Counties Hospice

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
