Shekinah Mission is Recruiting

Shekinah Mission is a Devon based charity that provides opportunities for people in recovery or seeking recovery. This may include recovery from homelessness, drug and alcohol issues, offending behaviours or mental ill health. We have a range of projects across a number of locations and we provide a safe and caring space for people to set their own challenges, regain their self-worth, develop new skills and go on to live independent and fulfilling lives.

Our Vision for 2020 is – By 2020 Shekinah will have supported at least 1,000 people with multiple and complex needs; we will be recognised for our partnership approach and we will be evidencing that our approach generates sustained saving to the public purse

We have recently undertaken a review of our Board and as a result are looking to recruit a number of new Board members who have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance – ideally a qualified or part qualified accountant with broad financial experience in a commercial environment
  • Fundraising /social investment
  • Demonstrating social impact
  • Commissioning/public sector – ideally with experience of health, education or social housing
  • Commercial/business
  • Legal – a familiarity with charity law and a background in commercial property law would be an advantage

Established in 1992 with its roots in the Christian faith the Mission would be pleased to meet candidates who are practising Christians, but this is not a requirement for the role – candidates are sought for their skills, experience and the ability to contribute as part of  an effective Board whilst supporting our values - Truthfulness, Caring, Stick-Ability, Identity and Basics.

We see a great opportunity over the next 5 years to become South Devon’s lead provider of support for those with multiple and complex needs and we believe that strengthening our board will significantly help us achieve this aim.

If you feel you can support our vision and are keen to play a leading part in shaping services for adults with complex needs in South Devon, then we would be delighted to hear from you.

Shekinah Mission is committed to equality and strongly values diversity.

Application is by CV and a supporting letter which should indicate why you are interested in applying for the role and how you meet the role requirements. Please see the job description for further details.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
