Summary

In the last 2 years we’ve gone from 0 – 60 in terms of the speed at which we’re developing our Community Fundraising activity. We’ve grown from a programme that delivered £1m pa, primarily through groups and on-site collection boxes, to £4m pa - and beyond - through an exciting mix of DIY, running and challenge and face-to-face opportunities at our 450 special places across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We’re currently looking for someone to take on the development of this activity over the next 12 months, working collaboratively and at pace with colleagues within Fundraising and across the organisation to build on these foundations and ensure Community Fundraising continues to go from strength to strength.

**This is a fixed term contract due to end when the previous employee returns from maternity leave. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 Months**

What it's like to work here

Heelis is the Central Office for the National Trust; it was named after one of the Trust’s biggest benefactors Mrs William Heelis, otherwise known as Beatrix Potter, the author of the much-loved children’s books. Approximately 500 staff from across the Trust’s directorates, including the Executive team and the Director General are based here. Heelis was designed to be highly sustainable and has won a number of nationally recognised awards.

What you'll be doing

This is an exceptionally exciting role here at the Trust and is an opportunity to lead on key projects across the community income stream lines, including in aid of fundraising, fundraising groups and running and challenge.

You'll deliver a step change in the Trust’s community fundraising activity, providing the practical tools and support to help generate more funds at a local level which includes rolls out of a medium sized project that will help to revolutionise how we fundraise both nationally and regionally.

You won’t undertake frontline community fundraising, but will lead a small central team, drawing on your extensive experience to provide expertise and inspiration to others. You’ll work collaboratively with our regional leads in both Fundraising and Volunteering and Participation, to develop knowledge and skills so that the Trust is well placed to facilitate community fundraising at a national and regional level.

We need you to lead 3 key areas of activity:

•As our in-house community fundraising expert, you will build our organisational capabilities in this field by working with key stakeholder across the Trust, both nationally and regionally

•As our ‘knowledge centre’ for property and community fundraising, you will identify, curate and promote excellent practice in on-site and offsite fundraising

•As our facilitator of in aid of fundraising, you will inspire supporters to fundraise and provide them with the tools to do so whilst building our sports fundraising income stream

To be successful you'll need to;

•Have a strong track record in the field of community fundraising and of drawing on this to deliver training and support for others.

•Bring fresh thinking to current initiatives, but also inspire and implement new ones.

•Be confident and collaborative

•Capable of building strong relationships with key stakeholders, across all areas and levels of the Trust.

•Have exemplary volunteer management skills and a good understanding of best practice in volunteer involvement.
