KEW ROYAL BOTANIC GARDENS

Philanthropic Research Officer

Full time, Permanent

Kew Gardens, Richmond

Kew is the world’s leading botanic gardens, at the forefront of plant and fungal science, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major visitor attraction.

We want a world where plants and fungi are understood, valued and conserved – because our lives depend on them.

We use the power of our science and the rich diversity of our gardens and collections to provide knowledge, inspiration and understanding of why plants and fungi matter to everyone.

RBG Kew is shortly to embark on an ambitious new fundraising campaign, led by Kew Foundation. To succeed, Kew will need to find, engage and inspire new and existing donors.

This will make a keen understanding of potential and current supporters, and the funding landscape, essential. This promises to be an exciting and transformative period in the history of RBG Kew and we are looking for an intelligent, motivated and enthusiastic individual to join us as our Philanthropy Research Officer.

Reporting to the Philanthropy Research Manager, and working closely with colleagues across Kew Foundation, you will be responsible for providing your fundraising colleagues with the new opportunities and insight they need to succeed.

Ideally you will have experience in either a research or fundraising role. You will be, or quickly become, familiar with core research techniques and resources and the workings of fundraising at a national charity. With the support of your Research colleagues, you will quickly become a key part of the team and be given your own areas of responsibility. This role would suit someone looking to hone their philanthropy research skills and move into a specialised role in a quickly-growing area of fundraising.

If you have a passion for science or conservation and would like to be part of what promises to be an exciting time in the history of RBG Kew, we would love to hear from you.

Salary will be £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. We offer a fantastic range of benefits including a broad range of Learning and Development opportunities, with access to the Civil Service training curriculum, generous annual leave entitlement for new starters, family friendly policies, a choice of competitive pensions and flexible benefits scheme.

Closing date: 3 June 2018
