Head of Fundraising.

Permanent position: 35 hours a week.

Ocean Youth Trust Scotland is an award winning youth work charity who deliver innovative programmes for young people on our sail training vessels. We take over 700 young people a year to sea from diverse backgrounds and communities, providing the opportunity for life changing self-development through Adventure under Sail. 

The Person we seek: 

This will be a hands on fundraising leadership role, working with an enthusiastic and collaborative team of staff and volunteers across all streams of fundraising income. The successful candidate will be an experienced corporate fundraiser with a proven track record, and a fantastic leader with the ability to engage easily, influence and inspire. You will play a key role supporting the growth and development of both existing corporate partners, and building new relationships.

Excellent communication skills alongside an ability to cultivate strong relationships with our corporate partners are essential for this role. You will thrive on the challenge of developing new and diverse methods of attracting support for the charity, with an ability to adapt to social and economic trends in giving. Your drive, commitment, and personality will allow you to grow income through excellent relationships with supporters and potential partners.

The position is for 35 hours per week which can be negotiated and flexible to suit the applicant and Ocean Youth Trust Scotland. Some evening and weekend work may be required. The post holder will report to the Chief Executive Officer, and have line management duties to Ocean Youth Trust Scotland’s Senior Fundraising Officer, Fundraising Officer, and Fundraising and Communications Officer.

Location: Greenock. (Some home working possible)

Salary: Up to £36,000, according to experience.

Key skills and Responsibilities: 

  • At least five years’ experience of working in a fundraising environment.
  • Knowledge of setting, reforecasting and managing budgets.
  • Ability to write and deliver an ambitious fundraising strategy.
  • You will understand the vital contribution companies make to fundraising, their CSR objectives, and the importance of a partnership approach in supporting them.
  • Develop and grow the existing corporate pipeline, with a focus on new business to generate income from corporate partnerships.
  • Your interpersonal skills will enable you to build lasting relationships with both new and existing prospects and supporters.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines as part of a team.
  • An excellent people manager with the ability to inspire and mentor the team.
  • To explore opportunities for organisations to provide added value through volunteering or gift in kind
  • Initiating new ideas for corporate fundraising and sponsorship proposals
  • Cultivating relationships with, and delivering talks to, local businesses and larger community organisations
  • Excellent project planning skills.
  • Good IT skills. Database/CRM experience an advantage although training will be provided if necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders..
