With an ambitious new strategy and priorities and a dynamic new brand, we’re seeking new Independent Members to join our People Committee and a number of our Steering Groups. You will work alongside our board of Trustees and help lead us into a future where blind and partially sighted people will say: “I can lead the life I want to lead.”

Committing to at least six days a year, as an Independent Member, you will bring your own independent views and skills to the table, taking a strategic outlook throughout and helping us to remain on target to achieve our ambition.

About RNIB

RNIB is changing. A movement of people living with sight loss is forming; standing together to be seen and have their voices heard. At RNIB we want to create a new world where there are no barriers for people with sight loss. A world where people are valued for the life they lead and not judged by their disabilities.

Through our new strategy, we will equip people to thrive. We’ll connect communities and influence decision makers so that together, we can make the world a fair place.

About you

We’re particularly looking for Members who have lived experience of sight loss and/or professional expertise in:

  • Diversity and Volunteering
  • Fundraising, Digital and Marketing
  • Business Transformation and IT

You will be an effective communicator and team player who is not afraid to challenge and ask why. You are likely to have experience of operating as a board or committee member within another charitable, public sector or commercial organisation, or a strong and demonstrable ability to do so. Above all, we want Independent Members who share our values.

These positions are unremunerated but reasonable expenses are payable.
