Prospect Market Intelligence Analyst

Research and intelligence is vital for day-to-day activities helping to inform alumni relations and wider fundraising activities. As we move forward in the medium term to develop an institutional fundraising campaign, an in-depth understanding of prospect wealth and giving propensity will be vital to help us determine future income targets. It is within this context, we are proposing to create a new Prospect Market Intelligence Analyst role to provide intelligence around our growing prospect and donor pool, identify new prospects and help to inform the fundraising process and the proposed campaign. In addition, the role-holder will undertake due diligence for proposed nominations for honorary graduates and in relation to gift acceptance taking into account ethical issues as well as determining any financial or reputational risks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • To lead, manage and deliver a proactive prospect research and management strategy working across the team to enhance our ability to successfully attract philanthropic support for university priorities and activities
  • To regularly and proactively identify new prospects through a range of techniques, working strategically with fundraising team members to inform their decision-making process and fundraising activity
  • To assess financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, giving propensity and connections to the University and maintain accurate and detailed records of current and potential donors
  • Prepare in-depth confidential research profiles on individuals, companies, foundations and trusts using a wide variety of tools and for a variety of purposes including events
  • Create and maintain policies and procedures supporting best practices, ethical and professional research standards, leveraging technology, data integrity and data security
  • To develop and manage a prospect research budget
  • To recommend prospect and pipeline reporting and to develop and implement policies and procedures to drive continuous improvement of prospect research and fundraising activity
  • To oversee and undertake due diligence in accordance with the University’s gift acceptance policy
  • To contribute to the proposed Bicentennial campaign
  • Ensure we are complying Data Protection legislation and associated fundraising policies
