Housing has become a national emergency that affects all of us. At Shelter, we believe a safe home isn’t just a fundamental need - it should be a right. That’s why, more than ever, this year and beyond we are leading the way to a safe home. We’re going to rally the country to join us on our mission to rise up, speak with a united voice, pick up the pieces and fix the underlying problem. Together we can bring fundamental change. And no matter how long it takes, we will succeed. Will you join our award-winning fundraising team and help us?

About the Role
With ever-rising concern about the housing crisis, leaving a legacy is a great way of supporting people who are struggling to keep a roof over their heads. We are committed to growing this area of our work – and you could soon be helping us do just that. A great mix of relationship management and marketing, this exciting role will see you present us as a charity that would benefit enormously from a gift left in someone’s will. You’ll also get to help us find new ways to connect with, and inspire, people who feel passionately about our work and want to support us. And, when it comes to building stronger relationships with our supporters via regular email and telephone communication again, we’ll count on you.

About you
A great platform upon which to build your fundraising career, you may already have some fundraising and/or direct marketing experience. However, we also welcome applicants from a broad range of backgrounds that could include customer service or commercial marketing. You’ll definitely need a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and a flexible approach. Proactive, commercially aware and customer-focused, you’re creative and innovative too, and not afraid to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas. What’s more, you’re used to managing multiple tasks and prioritising a busy workload and conflicting demands to meet deadlines. Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications is also required.

Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, the possibility of flexible working, enhanced family friendly policies and significant opportunities for learning and development.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.

Safeguarding is everyone’s business. Shelter is committed to protecting the health, wellbeing and human rights of those we support, and enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect. All our staff will be expected to observe professional standards of behaviour and conduct their work in line with our Safeguarding Policies.
