Do you want to develop your experience in fundraising and communications in a small, dedicated team? This three month, part time post (20hours per week) to cover a sabbatical, will give you the opportunity to carry out a range of activities to help maximise income and raise the profile of our charity. 

The Architects Benevolent Society supports past and present members of architectural professions, and their families, in times of need. We provide, advice, support and financial assistance. We are just about to launch a year-long campaign focusing on promoting mental wellbeing within the professions we support. This role will be heavily involved in this campaign, carrying out a range of activities.

Administration and Fundraising

  • Maintain and develop the supporter database of donors and volunteers; ensuring that supporter details and contact histories are updated.
  • Undertake all aspects of the receipt, batching, checking, logging and banking of donations to the Society.
  • Thank donors via letter, email and phone.
  • Liaise with Finance Officer to process donations and other fundraising income.
  • Support the External Relations Manager with collating data for internal and external reporting.

Communications and Marketing

  • Daily management of social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) working alongside the Fundraising Team.
  • Assist the Communications Officer to update and devise content for the Society’s website.
  • Support the collation and writing of content for supporter newsletters via email and post.
  • Occasionally attend external events as a representative of the Society.

You will need:

  • Understanding of the principles of good customer care and the accountabilities of a charity to its donors, supporters and volunteers.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to communicate with a diverse range of people.
  • Confidence using all MS Office software and databases.
  • Experience of maintaining CRM databases.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of updating website content.
  • Familiarity with all social media platforms.
  • Understanding of data protection principles, confidentiality and fundraising legal framework.
  • Accuracy and excellent attention to detail.

  • Planning and organising - prioritising and allocating time and resources effectively
  • Ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity
