The Institute of Cancer Research

(Senior) Philanthropy Manager

Chelsea, London (with occasional travel to Sutton)

The Institute of Cancer Research, London, is one of the world’s most influential cancer research institutes. We are passionate about our mission to make the discoveries that defeat cancer.

Our Development Office raised £16m in philanthropic donations last year – our best ever performance. We are responsible for maximising fundraising and philanthropy across individual giving and legacies, events, trusts and foundations, corporates and major donors.

On the back of this success, we are now in the early stages of a major capital fundraising campaign in order to build a new Centre for Cancer Drug Discovery on our Sutton site. This state-of-the-art facility will enable the ICR to build on our unrivalled track record in creating innovative cancer medicines, providing one of the world’s best hopes of finding the new drugs that are so urgently needed to meet the greatest challenges in cancer treatment today.

To support our ambitious goals, we are now seeking to appoint two key roles within our Philanthropy team; a Senior Philanthropy Manager and Philanthropy Manager who will help grow our portfolio of major donors.

The Senior Philanthropy Manager will drive the success of both our revenue targets and our capital campaign – a £70m Centre for Cancer Drug Discovery for which we have a £20m philanthropy target. Working closely with the Deputy Director of Philanthropy, you will work to establish innovative, ambitious and effective relationships with prospective supporters at the five and six-figure plus level.

The Philanthropy Manager will play a lead role in the expansion of the Discovery Club, our high-level giving club. You will utilise your highly-tuned relationship-building skills to nurture relationships with existing and potential donors and work closely with the Senior Philanthropy Manager and Deputy Director of Philanthropy to play an instrumental role in the delivery of our capital campaign.

If you enjoy nurturing and developing relationships with a diverse range of supporters and would like to contribute to the future growth and success of the team, please contact our recruitment partners, Richmond Associates.
