Created as a business solution to a social problem, The Big Issue was founded in 1991 to provide vulnerably housed people with a legal way to earn money. Big Issue vendors buy The Big Issue magazine for £1.25 and sell it for £2.50, earning £1.25 for each copy that they sell. 

Position: Fundraising Manager (Community and Events)
Location: Finsbury Park, London

About the role: 

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Events Fundraising Manager to join our small but passionate team and to contribute to one of the country’s most dynamic social initiatives. 

As the Events Fundraising Manager you will manage all events and community activity focusing on increasing long term sustainable income as part of our new strategy, whilst supporting and raising awareness of the work of The Big Issue Foundation in these areas. 

This is an exciting time for the organisation as we create our new 3-year strategy. You will be part of growing income significantly in this area with the opportunity to create new events and community campaigns alongside close work with the Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy to maximise Corporate engagement with the events portfolio. 

About you: 

Educated to degree level, the successful candidate will have proven track record of fundraising in this area, along with excellent research, written and oral communication skills. You will have experience of meeting a personal gross income target over £300,000 and of managing bespoke events. 

Additionally, you will have a proven project management or event management track record. Experience of managing volunteers is also essential, as is experience of writing and managing multiple income and expenditure budgets. You will also have experience of developing marketing plans for events and campaigns. 

You will also have experience of using a database for managing supporters and generating reports and will be knowledgeable on charity / fundraising / Data Protection. The ability to work outside of office hours and travel throughout the UK is also essential.
