It’s an exciting time to be joining the team at Acorns. We’ve got a great deal to celebrate and give thanks for as we look towards our 30th Anniversary next year, but our challenge now is to ensure that the vital care and support services we provide for children and their families continues to make a difference for the next 30 years and beyond. By growing, looking after and developing our pool of regular and one-off supporters, the Individual Giving Officer will play a key role in making this happen.

Are you organised and focussed with experience of planning and delivering outstanding direct marketing campaigns? Can you write, edit and shape copy that is engaging and makes people take action? Do you want to help create a sustainable future for the UK’s largest children’s hospice?

If so, this could be your chance to make a real impact. We firmly believe that every child and family in our region who needs our support should receive it, so as a fundraising team we are raising significant funds to help us achieve our vision of being there for each and every one of them. This is why we need someone like you to join our Individual Giving Team and ensure we maximise income today, while keeping supporters engaged and giving into the future.

About the role
This is a newly created role reporting to the Individual Giving Manager. Responsible for delivering an ambitious and effective regular giving and appeals programme, you will maximise supporter recruitment and development and ensure long-term programme growth for Acorns. You will manage the stewardship of donors through proactive and effective data management, delivering an excellent supporter experience through targeted supporter journeys.

In conjunction with the individual giving manager, you will draft and implement marketing plans and budgets for the appeals, regular giving and newsletter programmes.

About you
You will have experience of working in a Marketing or Fundraising environment, as well as considerable experience of project and budget management. You will have experience working with data for marketing and insight purposes, and your passion for good writing will mean you have the ability to create and shape effective and engaging copy for appeals, newsletter and other Individual Giving materials. You will be confident briefing and managing agencies and other suppliers to ensure that Acorns, and our supporters, best interests are represented at all times. A ‘can do’ attitude is a must, as well as the ability to work well as part of a team.
