Alder Hey Family House Trust

Ronald McDonald House – Liverpool Alder Hey

Circa £40,000 per annum, plus benefits

About us:

Ronald McDonald House Liverpool (Mac House) is an independent charity based in Liverpool, established in 1993 to provide support and accommodation to the parents of children in the nearby Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. The charity offers a 'home from home' for families a short distance from the hospital, allowing families who live further afield and/or those who are in difficult financial circumstances to be close to their sick child.

In its 26 years of operation, Mac House has provided accommodation to 32,000 families. The house now has 84 rooms and is the largest Ronald McDonald House in Europe.  Functioning as one of just three charities under the Ronald McDonald Charities umbrella that holds independent charitable status, Mac House needs to raise £700,000 a year to continue to deliver its services and maintain its independence as a charity.

This is an exciting time for the charity, we are ambitious for our future and see many opportunities ahead for us and are therefore investing in a number of different areas including the refurbishment of our accommodation and our fundraising programme.

We are a small, dynamic team; engaging and innovative fundraising and marketing is critical for us to continue offering a ‘home for home’ for our families.

The role:

We are seeking an experienced fundraising manager with excellent communication skills and a successful track record of exceeding targets across a range of income streams.  They will be able to influence and motivate others, build positive relationships with key stakeholders and work collaboratively throughout the organisation.  An effective change maker, they should be able to identify quick wins, manage risk and progress long term plans for sustainable income growth whilst embedding string governance across all activity.

The successful candidate will need to be comfortable in developing strategies, working with budgets and forecasts as well as motivating and managing an established team to make the most of every donation we receive.  They will have an excellent understanding of a range of income streams, including community, corporate and events fundraising, individual giving, trusts and legacies.  They will also introduce innovative opportunities to maximise income and maintain the high profile of our charity.

At Mac House we believe that every donation matters and as such, our families and supporters are at the heart of all our activity.  Our Head of Fundraising will have excellent rapport and an ability to develop and nurture relationships with our supporters.
