A great theatre needs great people.  We can only thrive by having the right team on board in a fast-paced, constantly changing, creative workplace.

About Us

Presenting the best in musical theatre, ballet and opera, dance, drama, comedy and pantomime, we work successfully with some of the world’s biggest international producers.  With our resident partners Birmingham Royal Ballet and DanceXchange; with collaborators such as Welsh National Opera, The Lowry and Sadler’s Wells; and with names like Disney, Cameron Mackintosh, Qdos and Cape Town Opera dull moments don’t get a look in.

Average annual paid attendance of over half a million theatre-goers underlines our claim to be the UK’s busiest and most popular single theatre.  We are managed by a voluntary board of Trustees as an independent charity with no revenue subsidy from the public purse.  In our main auditorium or Patrick Centre studio, in our conference spaces or restaurant, and in schools and communities through Hippodrome CREATIVE, we make sure that everyone is welcome, we settle for nothing but the best and we bring flair to everything we do.

About The Role

You will be responsible for overseeing funding applications to a broad range of trusts and grants. You will help deliver the aims and targets of our Fundraising Strategy and our broader strategic plan by researching potential funders and creating compelling cases for support. Important will be the ability to extend our reach and identify new sources of income. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation you will also help shape bids and ensure projects become ‘fundraising ready’. This will involve developing content, building case studies and designing broader communication materials. Your remit will include representing the Hippodrome at internal and external networking events too. You will also provide ongoing financial analysis and regular reporting against KPI’s.

An experienced fundraiser you are up to date with fundraising best-practice and legislation including GDPR. You will be used to researching grant sources and producing tailored approaches that produce successful outcomes. Highly creative, you will excel at producing well-constructed and engaging applications based on a sound understanding of donor requirements. Effective at building relationships, you will possess strong communication, interpersonal and literacy skills. Good at overseeing multiple projects you will enjoy working in a fast paced environment that is target orientated. A recognised fundraising qualification would be an advantage.
