This is a great opportunity for a fundraiser who wants to play a significant role in a small but growing charity, while making a direct impact on the lives of hundreds of children and their communities in Africa.

Bread and Water for Africa UK is a small overseas development charity supporting grassroots organisations in Africa. Founded in 2004, BWAUK works directly with small local organisations to identify the solutions that exist and work best, using local staff and local resources. We focus on long-term projects rather than temporary relief efforts, so we can give African communities a hand up, not a handout. In this way, these sustainable projects can continue to help future generations.

Because we are a small team, you will gain incredible experience in the whole fundraising process, build strong relationships with all stakeholders, including supporters, vendors, board of trustees and partners in the field.
You will work directly under the supervision of the CEO and in close partnership with our trusted vendors and manage our entire Individual Giving programme. You will serve as a point of contact for donors, develop a stewardship plan to upgrade existing donors, and act as representative for the charity at networking and community engagement events.

Direct Marketing:
In collaboration with our Direct Marketing agency and our fulfilment house, and under the supervision of the CEO, you will be in charge of our DM programme, which includes 3 to 4 mailings per year, including an annual newsletter. You will manage the entire DM project, including:
- help identify themes for upcoming appeals based on our partners needs;
- provide DM Agency with written brief to bring the chosen theme to life;
- source case studies and relevant photography to support concept and copy development to create the most engaging appeals;
- provide feedback, editing and proofreading on concept, creative and copy;
- manage budget;
- liaise with fulfilment house for campaign set-up, response processing and thanking.
Database:
You will review and import data, analyse results, build reports on campaign performance and make recommendations for future campaigns.
Stewardship:
You will be the supporters’ main point of contact to answer their queries, update the database, deal with emails, phone calls and letters.
You will also be responsible for our stewardship programme, designing and implementing supporter journeys based on type of supporter including new donors, regular givers, high value individuals, as well as cultivating existing mid-level donors for committed legacy gifts.
Marketing and content
Through your growing understanding and knowledge of our partners programmes in the fields, their needs, strengths and weaknesses, you will help develop communications content for both on and off-line materials, including Individual Giving engagement mechanisms (virtual gifts, child sponsorship, community events, ambassador programme), correspondence with donors, social media posts, web articles, etc.
Recruitment
In partnership with the CEO and our DM agency, you will help identify possible avenues for recruitment, plan budget and test activities.
