We are looking for someone who is likeable, good with people, persistent in approach and can communicate their passion for BRF’s work to be our Major Donor Key Relationships Executive. The successful candidate will be goal-orientated, who asks boldly with a spirit of generosity. If you fit the bill, we will give you comprehensive training for this new role and the opportunity to work with a major donor consultant with over 30 years’ experience.

Main purpose: To secure funds for BRF by qualifying and managing a group of major donor prospects (individuals) ensuring that as many as possible give annual gifts over £10,000 and are continually upgraded in their giving and involvement. Extensive travel is required.

Location: BRF office, Abingdon (would consider some home working)

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Main areas of responsibility

  • Raise income from major donors (some giving through personal trusts), by initiating and developing long-term relationships with new and existing donors
  • Contribute to team strategy in achieving objectives and targets in line with fundraising objectives and targets.
  • Develop a strategy that focuses on personal communication with each major donor and prospect through face to face meetings.
  • Assist in development of a culture within BRF that engages the wider staff team in productive relationships with major donors.
  • Engage with colleagues, CEO, and Senior Management Team to ensure the maximum income possible through joined-up working.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Outstanding personal skills - ability to discover what interests the donor, what is appropriate communication and what is the appropriate level of financial ask
  • Ability to match the donor’s interest, passion and values with a suitable BRF project
  • Evidence of strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to make a cogent and compelling case for support for each project
  • Project management skills and ability to prioritise work to monthly targets
  • Ability to develop excellent working relationships with BRF staff and Trustees: diplomatic, persuasive and credible at senior level
  • Computer literate in Word and Excel
  • Flexibility to travel and include occasional evening and weekend work
  • Strong commitment to the aims of the organisation

Desirable

  • Experience of managing relationships with individuals within the charity or corporate sector
  • Experience of using CRM databases
