Director of Fundraising

A great opportunity for Director of Fundraising.

Children’s Hospice South West, (CHSW) is a registered charity dedicated to the provision of hospice care for life limited children and their families from the South West. We provide care at our hospices Little Bridge House in North Devon, Charlton Farm in North Somerset and Little Harbour in Mid Cornwall.

Position: Director of Fundraising
Location: Barnstaple, Devon
Contract type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £61,538 to £69,262 with attractive terms and conditions including lease car/car allowance and personal pension scheme

Closing Date: 9am, Monday 18 December 2017
Interview date: Mid-January 2018

About the Role:

This Director of Fundraising role is crucial to the delivery, sustainability and development of the highest quality care and support for children with life-limiting conditions, and their families, in the geographically extensive South West Region, which stretches from South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire in the East to the Isles of Scilly in the far West.

The Charity is in a financially secure position and is looking to enhance its reputation and to extend its services to more children and their families in the Peninsula. At present nearly 500 children a year are supported in and from the three hospices through a range of services which are described later in the recruitment brief found on our website.

To achieve our strategic ambitions, as well as securing service sustainability we are seeking to recruit an individual with the capabilities to lead, manage, sustain and grow the Charity in the coming years. The successful candidate will have the advantage of having a supportive Board of Trustees, a cohesive Senior Management Team together with an energetic and highly motivated directorate. Collectively we are united in our desire to “make the most of short and precious lives”.

About You:

To take Children’s Hospice South West to the next level we are looking for an experienced fundraiser who possesses extensive leadership and operational management experience, preferably of a multi-site organisation, and someone who understands our roots and continued strength lie in the communities of the South West and fundraising within them. We are seeking to recruit an individual who understands from an engagement point of view that “belonging” to the Charity is vital to its continued well-being. The successful candidate will be a confident individual, who is able to relate to all sections of the community in a way which demonstrates understanding and gravitas. Retaining the confidence of the directorate’s staff will require special personal qualities as well as a high level of energy to travel extensively and maintain a presence across the Peninsula.

We are seeking to appoint an individual who can make a significant contribution to the Charity’s sense of unity, i.e. between children and families, supporters and volunteers and staff. This is a very rare opportunity to be instrumental in shaping the future of a region-wide children’s palliative care service and will afford a high level of job satisfaction. Whilst managing a complex multi-site fundraising operation over such a long linear region, the post, being based in Devon, will ensure the successful candidate enjoys the high quality of life and leisure opportunities associated with the area. A relocation package may be available.

You may have experience of the following: Director of Fundraising, Head of Fundraising, Fundraiser, Fundraising Manager, Senior Fundraising Manager, Regional Fundraising Manager, Fundraising Executive, Charity, Charities, Third Sector, NFP, Not for Profit etc.
