Director of Fundraising 

Since 1991 Children’s Hospice South West’s story is one of phenomenal growth so we are now one of the largest and certainly most geographically extensive children’s hospice organisations in England. We have developed an enviable record of fundraising and subsequent service delivery to children and families across the South West.

This role is crucial to ensure the delivery, sustainability and development of the highest quality care and support for children with life-limiting conditions, and their families, in the extensive South West Region, which stretches from South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire in the East to the Isles of Scilly in the far West.

The care we provide is based in our three hospices: Little Bridge House in Devon, Charlton Farm in North Somerset and Little Harbour in Cornwall. There are fundraising teams at each of these locations. The Charity’s HQ is at Little Bridge House which is where the Director of Fundraising will need to attend a couple of times a week to work with the Senior Management Team.

Position: Director of Fundraising
Location: South West - Little Bridge House (HQ), Barnstaple, Devon Or Charlton Farm, Wraxall, Bristol Or Little Harbour, St Austell, Cornwall Or Chinon Court Offices, Tiverton – with a requirement to be at HQ typically twice per week.
Job type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £64,024 to £72,060 (pending HAY evaluation) plus attractive terms and conditions

About the role:

In order to achieve our strategic ambitions, as well as securing service sustainability in these challenging times, we are seeking to recruit an individual who has the energy and creativity to lead, manage, sustain and grow the Charity in the coming years. The main accountability of this role is the generation of c£9m per annum whilst contributing to the development and growth of the organisation and our successful and committed team who are united in our desire to “make the most of short and precious lives”.

About you: 

- You will be an experienced fundraiser manager / leader with a proven track record of income generation from a variety of sources over a long period.
- You will be able to devise funding strategies and create innovative approaches to securing investment through the effective management of a dispersed and high energy team.
- There will be significant liaison with corporations, communities and statutory bodies, requiring you to be able to establish long-term relationships and to persuade and influence others.
- You will be expected to design and deliver a fundraising plan underpinning the overall strategic plan and capitalising on market opportunities for income growth.
- As you will need to travel extensively and maintain a presence across the Peninsula, you will require a high level of energy and resilience.
