We seek a new addition to our small team, who is an exceptional writer, highly organised, and is skilled at corresponding with and soliciting donations from individuals, corporates, Trusts & Foundations. This role would suit an individual who has experience (or is gaining experience) in fundraising and would like to take on a key role in a small organisation.

In this role you will use your excellent persuasive writing, organisational and relationship management skills to deliver fundraising success for Classics for All. You will manage and expand CfA's growing pool of individual donors who give up to £1,000 per annum (c. 3 days per week), retaining donors through excellent stewardship. Working closely with the Executive Director and the Programme Director, you will also create compelling proposals and reports for major supporters. Major supporters include trusts and foundations, major donors, and corporate sponsors (c. 2 days per week).

In seven years we have grown from £100k to £500k per annum; currently 75% of our income is from individual donors and 25% from Trusts & Foundations. We are confident we have the potential to grow to £750,000 within the next couple of years; this role will play a critical role in our growth.

The role

  • Responsibility for growing our income from donors who give up to £1k per year,
    and ensuring that we achieve steadily growing income from Trusts & Foundations;
  • Identify, research and solicit new donors and supporters;
  • Assist in securing corporate sponsorship, e.g. for our events;
  • Achieve or succeed agreed donor budgets each year.

The person

  • A clear thinker and concise, compelling writer;
  • Highly organised, with a track record of delivering to deadlines;
  • A motivated self-starter that, after initial support, can work on their own and in collaboration with colleagues to achieve financial targets;
  • At least 2 years’ experience of successful income growth through charitable trusts and foundations and/or individual donors and of developing productive long-term relationships. In exceptional circumstances we may consider outstanding candidates without direct experience of fundraising where they have experience of working on high profile campaigns, especially in an education environment, and meet all other criteria in the person specification – see candidate information pack for further detail.

This post would suit someone who wishes to make a positive contribution to a young but rapidly growing charity. We are a friendly team, based in Covent Garden in the heart of London.
