Community and Events Fundraising Assistant

Aldgate, London E1

£22,000-£24,000 per annum | 35 hours per week

  • Do you have experience of delivering excellent donor or customer care?
  • Are you committed to helping us to raise vital funds through an ambitious and exciting Community and Sports Events fundraising portfolio?
  • Are you interested in joining a digitally-driven organisation that is passionate about making real change for people with asthma?

If you do, this role could be for you!

Come and make a difference!

There is nothing as terrifying as the feeling of not being able to breathe or watching helplessly as a loved one struggles for breath. Although asthma affects 1 in 5 households in the UK it is, mistakenly, seen to be ‘sorted’. It’s not. In the UK today, every 10 seconds someone has a potentially fatal asthma attack. Every day the lives of three families are devastated by the death of a loved one to an asthma attack. Tragically, the majority of these could be prevented right now with the right basic care. Others still suffer with asthma so severe current treatments don’t work. This has to change. That’s why Asthma UK exists.

What does the role involve?

You will work closely with the Community Fundraising Manager and Community Fundraising Officer to deliver successful donor care to our growing number of committed and enthusiastic Community Fundraisers, supporting the Sporting Events fundraising team as required. It is a varied and busy role that includes delivering excellent administration and dedicated supporter care, social media activity and management of ‘do it yourself’ fundraisers and special projects. You’ll need to be comfortable juggling tasks and priorities, as well as working towards agreed measurable objectives.

You will need:

  • Administrative support experience in a busy office environment
  • Great communication skills
  • A commitment to excellent donor care
  • Knowledge and understanding of the use of digital, especially social media
  • Knowledge and understanding of donor or supporter journeys
  • The motivation to ‘test, learn and refine’ to ensure steady growth of our fundraising and budget
  • Some knowledge and understanding of asthma is desirable

This is a great place to work!

With around 80 people, we are a tight team working together to stop asthma attacks and cure asthma. Our recent staff survey shows that alongside having a decidedly high performance culture Asthma UK is probably the friendliest place most people have worked, with great opportunities for development. So, if you are a high performer who is passionate about making a difference and want to develop your experience in the charity sector and grow your skills, we’d love to hear from you.
