Are you a confident and ambitious fundraiser ready to take the next step in your community fundraising career?

We’re looking for someone to join the Acorns’ community fundraising team, to take ownership of fundraising activity across the region with high level community fundraisers including Acorns’ Fundraising Support Groups. The West Midlands is full of diversity and opportunities, and now all we need is a dedicated fundraiser with initiative to seek out those opportunities to engage with and secure income from groups and individuals, across our patch.

Why now?
It’s an exciting time to be joining the team at Acorns. There’s much to celebrate as we look towards our 30th Anniversary next year but without our people and our amazing supporters we couldn’t be there for the children and families we care for. There’s so much more we need to do and you can be part of our story.

Why Acorns?
The children and young people who come to Acorns all have serious and complex life limiting or life threatening conditions. We offer care and support services to suit each individual family’s needs and do whatever we can to help them and their child.  We firmly believe that no family should go through this alone, so as a fundraising team we must raise significant funds to ensure we are there for each and every one of them. This is why we need someone like you to join our community fundraising team and inspire the local community to join us in our vision.

About the role
A newly created role reporting to the Head of Fundraising and responsible for working across all of Acorns’ area of operation to drive sustainable income growth across key community fundraising income streams including Fundraising Groups, local mayors and other dignitaries, Rotary, Masons, Round Table and other groups, and collections boxes. You will scope out and coordinate the opportunities available from local community organised events to maximise the fundraising and awareness for Acorns.

About you
We are looking for someone passionate about engaging with local supporters and volunteers to help us meet our mission to improve the quality of life for all those affected by life limiting or life threatening conditions. We need someone who is tenacious and results driven and can hit the ground running, someone able to manage multiple activities, all focused around our fundraising plans. You’ll demonstrate initiative and imagination, enthusiasm and experience.

It is essential you have a good understanding of the principles of supporter care and the measures that are used to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.  You will have experience of public speaking, along with a track record of identifying, pitching and securing new support, along with managing and developing relationships with individual donors or customers. In addition you will use your excellent interpersonal skills to motivate and mobilise our volunteers. You will be self-motivated and adept at planning and prioritising your workload, with experience of and resilience to meeting targets. You are a natural problem solver with an instinctive ability to foster positivity and are committed to building good internal and external relationships. Previous fundraising experience and new business or sales experience within the voluntary and is essential as is the ability to work within a team.
