Job Title:                   Fundraising Manager
Reports to: Compton Senior Director
Location: Newport, Isle of Wight
Salary:                       £28,000 – £32,000 depending on experience

THE ROLE: An exciting opportunity to work alongside one of our Senior Consultants to manage a team of 6 fundraisers. Target: Over £2m in revenue, including £1m in legacies, annually across the fundraising team; in addition to a planned £1.5m capital campaign.

Main Responsibilities

Planning

Work with the Senior Director on annual fundraising planning and delivery to achieve income targets across the range of revenue streams.

Assist in the development of longer-term planning to achieve agreed organisational goals (including a capital campaign).

Campaign Management

Assist the director to deliver the £1.5m needed to redevelop an existing on-site building into an innovative new community centre.

Financial Planning and Budget Management

Assist the team in the production of cost-effective budgets to achieve action plans.

Maintain income and expenditure tracking and evaluation systems.

Fundraising

Help manage an effective fundraising team to deliver fundraising income, meeting set targets.

Develop and maintain effective supporter journeys for the development of relationships and retention.

Assist the Director in the senior management of the organisation, attending team and management meetings as necessary and helping to prepare reports and give presentations on fundraising progress to the senior leadership team and the trustee board.

Represent the organisation at fundraising and networking events.

  • Contribute to the formulation, setting and controlling the departmental budgets and targets with the senior fundraising team and finance.
  • Manage, motivate and lead the fundraising team on a daily basis and contribute to the fundraising department’s efforts in raising over £2m.
  • Help develop and implement the fundraising strategy in line with the organisation’s changing needs and interests of its donors, supporters and volunteers.
  • Deliver campaign management services and in cooperation with the Director, help deliver the fundraising aims of the capital campaign.
  • Coordinate staff and volunteers to support the full breadth of fundraising activities that the team delivers.
  • Build the Regular Giving and In Memory funds and supporter bases through strategic relationship development.
  • Increase revenue from the lottery and collection boxes through recruitment and strategic relationship development and work with the fundraising administrator to ensure the effective management of these income streams.  
  • Coordinate training and development for fundraisers and interns.
  • Work with the database officer to oversee maintenance of the supporter database system (Donorflex) and support all budgetary functions of the Fundraising team.
  • Work with the senior trust fundraiser and fundraising administrator, supporting them as necessary to deliver the production of effective, high quality proposals and reports through a planned and targeted programme of stewardship of trusts and grant-making foundations.
  • Work with the community fundraiser to prepare and deliver an effective plan for community engagement, which includes recruitment and development of new donors and volunteers.
  • Assist the major events team to deliver the organisation’s largest fundraising events.
  • Lead on recruiting and managing fundraising volunteers, in-house and at events, attending the volunteer development group and ensuring that information and training is up to date.
  • Contribute to the overall running of the organisation as a pro-active and strategic member of the fundraising team blending in the organisational values to teams objectives and practices.
  • Deputise for the Director as required and assist with tasks requested from time to time.

Qualifications: Degree is expected

Relevant experience

A track record of more than five years’ successful fundraising.

Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. 

Energy, enthusiasm and flair to work hard and achieve ambitious targets.

Innovative management style.
