Job Description -  Statutory and Trusts Fundraising Officer  

Responsible To -  Head of Fundraising

Hours of Work -  Full-time £28,000

Place of Work -  CtE National Office - Victoria, London

About Contact the Elderly:

Founded in 1965, Contact the Elderly is the only national charity solely focused on tackling loneliness and social isolation amongst older people through face to face contact. Supported by a volunteer network of thousands, the charity organises free monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for small groups of older people aged 75 or over who live alone across the UK.

Purpose of the Role:

The Fundraising Team are on a path of growth and are looking to develop new income streams in the coming years. This charity has an established team and is looking for someone to join to add a creative touch to help diversify income. This role will be responsible for applying for funding from UK medium trusts, large foundations, the Big Lottery, and for researching funding opportunities from other statutory sources.

We are looking for an experienced fundraiser who is proactive and loves seeking out new funding opportunities.

The successful candidate will have effective grant management experience including donor reporting and monitoring project results. They will carry out all monitoring, donor reporting and work closely with the Finance Team on financial reporting.

Key Skills/Experience

  • A successful track record of meeting income targets
  • Flair for, and interest in, researching and preparing imaginative funding packages
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial control
  • A persuasive personality with excellent interpersonal and communications skills both verbal and written
  • Computer literate with word processing skills and familiarity with the use of databases and spreadsheets – Word, Excel and internet
  • Experience of strategic planning, analysis, monitoring and evaluation
  • The ability to work on own initiative, be disciplined, enabling the delegation and/or prioritising of work, particularly under pressure in order to meet deadlines
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
  • Analytical and reporting skills
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently within a team context, supporting colleagues and working independently when required

Desirable

  • Ability to deliver presentations to potential funders
  • Understanding of the principles of marketing
  • Interest in, and commitment to, the principles of Contact the Elderly

General

  • An understanding of, and empathy with, the issues affecting older people who are isolated and lonely
  • Make positive contributions to the fundraising strategy, (within the Fundraising Team)
  • Participate in staff meetings
  • Ensure that Contact the Elderly’s work is presented in professional and positive ways at all times
  • Communicate clearly, concisely and effectively, both verbally and written
  • Undertake other reasonable duties that may be agreed from time to time
