Cord is an international charity based in the UK that has been working for over 50 years to build and transform relationships across a range of contexts in South-East Asia and Africa. Cord’s vision, mission and values are inspired by the Christian faith and we employ and work with people of all faiths and none.

Cord’s vision is of a world where people can live in the fullness of peace, having the freedom to flourish and live free from fear. We work with people in highly sensitive and oppressive contexts to transform dysfunctional relationships between civil society and powerholders into those that create peaceful and inclusive societies.

We are seeking a talented and effective Private Fundraising & Communications Coordinator to join Cord at a crucial time. This role is a key member of the Cord team, being responsible for implementing the private fundraising and communications strategy. The role is dedicated to fundraising via the communication of stories of personal transformative change, “engaging intelligently” with our current and new supporters, and developing new relationships with Trusts and Foundations, high net worth individuals and corporates. You will be a self-starter who can hit the ground running to help us drive growth and achieve our ambitious fundraising targets for 2019 onwards.

The Private Fundraising & Communications Coordinator will:

  • maintain income from existing supporter base and grow income from new sources for the organisation;
  • lead on implementing and shaping the Cord Private Fundraising Strategy with individual supporters, churches, corporates, trusts, foundations and high net worth individuals;
  • represent Cord externally at Church speaking engagements and key fundraising events;
  • lead on administering and maximising the value of Cord’s fundraising database;
  • line manage the Communications and Fundraising Assistant, ensuring accurate recording of all donations and effective supporter correspondence;
  • lead on the production of clear and engaging communications content across print and digital channels which market Cord’s strategy to a wide variety of audiences globally;
  • develop and use a wide variety of fundraising and donor acquisition campaign tools to market Cord effectively to a wider audience.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • a degree in a related subject - marketing, business or communications desired - or relevant and demonstrable work experience;
  • understanding of current policy debates in fundraising, international development and peacebuilding;
  • three recent years’ demonstrable results in fundraising and communications within the UK and/or international charity sector;
  • proven experience of building/maintaining a supporter base of individual and/or community supporters and developing a legacy programme;
  • proven experience of working with Corporates and high net worth individuals as well as trusts and foundations to secure new funding;
  • experience of working on supporter databases such as Netsuite;
  • excellent organisational and administrative skills, and the ability to work to deadlines;
  • competence in relevant Microsoft Office programs.

If you are passionate about communicating confidently with a Christian audience in a church environment as well as to those with other faiths or none, have a commitment to the values and ethos of Cord, and have the energy to be part of a small but well-established organisation, then we would love to hear from you!
