Fundraising Development Specialist
Bristol

About Us

Development Initiatives (DI) fights the causes of poverty on an international scale through the use of data to help drive sustainable development and the allocation of finance and resources to the right areas at the right time.

We are working to end poverty, increase the resilience of the world’s most vulnerable people and ensure no one is left behind.

DI has been largely funded by the governments and institutions we work with. However, being aware of the political uncertainties and changing domestic priorities that our funders face, we are diversifying our revenue and further developing our relationships with trusts and foundations and seeking new investments from private funders.

We’re now looking for a Fundraising Development Specialist to join our team and grow and maintain our revenue sources to ensure that we can continue our important work.

The Benefits

- Salary of up to £50,000 DOE
- Flexible working arrangements
- Pension scheme with 5% contribution
- Health cash scheme with employee assistance programme
- Childcare vouchers and cycle to work scheme
- Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave and sick pay policies
- Casual dress code
- Offices just five minutes from Temple Meads train station
- Up to five days’ paid leave to volunteer for a cause that addresses poverty or helps vulnerable people
- Buy/sell holiday scheme
- 25 days’ holiday plus Bank Holidays and discretionary paid time off at Christmas

This is an amazing opportunity to drive the success of a pioneering organisation and ensure that we can continue to play a constant and consistent role as a global partner in poverty reduction.

We work in a fast-paced environment where we need to be able to respond to new situations quickly and creatively. As such, we need amazing people on our team to help us achieve our goal of ending poverty and ensuring support is provided to those across the world who are most vulnerable.

We are truly passionate about our vision and provide a culture of transparency and innovation where teams are encouraged to think outside the box and empowered to perform at their best.

The Role

As a Fundraising Development Specialist, you will sustain existing funding streams and identify new funders to help us grow our income.

Working closely with our Executive Team, you will help to expand our pool of donors, especially with trusts, foundations and private investors.

You’ll research and identify potential new funders, research, draft and submit grant applications, build relationships with donors and provide admin and procurement support during final funding negotiations.

Additionally, you will:

- Contribute to the development of our fundraising strategy
- Ensure that donor relations are managed successfully
- Provide training and advice on fundraising across the organisation
- Ensure that reporting to donors is delivered on time and to a high standard
- Represent DI externally

About You

To join us as a Fundraising Development Specialist, you’ll need:

- Experience of creating fundraising proposals to trusts, foundations and statutory bodies
- Previous experience of working in the third sector or in international development
- Great communication skills and the confidence to represent the organisation externally
- A strategic mindset

We’d love to hear from you if you’ve worked as a Senior Fundraising Manager, Trusts & Statutory Fundraising Manager, Fundraising Manager, Programme Funding Manager, Fundraising Development Manager or Charity Fundraising Manager.

Development Initiatives is an equal opportunities employer and in line with our policies, we aim to ensure that no job applicant receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of race, colour, nationality, religion, ethnic or national origin, age, gender, marital status, sexual orientation or disability.
