Development Manager (Fund raiser) for the Centre for Industry Education Collaboration

Introduction / The Role

The Development Manager is a new post in the Centre for Industry Education Collaboration (CIEC), based in the University’s Department of Chemistry. CIEC is heavily reliant on the sponsorship and philanthropic giving from science-based manufacturing companies, individual donors, foundations and trust, in order to achieve its core aims of increasing pupil and teacher motivation for and knowledge of science, manufacturing, and related careers.

Key Requirements

This post will suit someone with proven experience and proficiency in developing and maintaining a large number and wide range of sponsorship/donor relationships, and who is a highly motivated and independent individual who can also work collaboratively as part of a small dedicated team, whilst liaising with a wide network within and beyond the University.

The Centre for Industry Education Collaboration is a unique industry-education centre based in the Department of Chemistry at the University of York. It is recognised for its expertise in creating and maintaining a diverse range of initiatives to inspire primary and secondary pupils and their teachers about science and its vital importance to our UK manufacturing base. Its goals are to promote excellence in science teaching and learning, increase children’s and teacher’s awareness of STEM industries, and increase children’s and teachers’ awareness of STEM careers.

The post is part-time (0.4 fte) and the starting salary will be £38,183 – £49,924 (pro-rata) on Grade 7 of the University scales.
